Film tape yarn is a type of yarn that originates from extruded polymer films, slit into narrow tapes. Film tape slitting requires precision to ensure the integrity of the tapes and the quality of the final product. Antiblocking agents are additives incorporated into plastics to prevent the adhesion of film layers. The typical silicon dioxide (SiO2) materials are effective antiblocking agents for plastic films. These additives have substantial impact on blade wear, slit quality and lifetime.
Pearlized or pearlescent films are often used in packaging and decorative applications. The presence of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and pearlite pigment serves to achieve the desired visual (white, opaque and pearlescent appearance) and performance characteristics. The film is abrasive due to the presence of CaCO3, so it's crucial to choose cutting tools and parameters that can withstand such abrasion.
